La band si è formata nel 1989 nel West Midlands grazie al bassista Martin Blunt, che ingaggiò altri musicisti della stessa contea: Rob Collins (tastiere), Jon Brookes (batteria), John Baker (chitarra) ed il cantante Baz Ketley, che fu sostituito quasi immediatamente da Tim Burgess.
