Imagination as the Protagonist is an online workshop to explore

We will start from the body’s memory, sounds, objects, memories, textures and inner landscapes to discover other ways of imagining and creating.

This workshop is for people working in theatre and performance, as well as visual artists, dancers, musicians, architects, educators, researchers, psychologists, anthropologists, art therapists and creators who want to expand their creative tools. It is also for people experiencing a creative block, and for those with no artistic experience who simply want to make space for imagination and play again.

About the Company

Sensory Studio is a platform of artists dedicated to researching, creating and developing the Language of the Senses and its poetics. This research takes shape through labyrinths, poetic installations, sensory experiences, workshops, training and exchange.

The Language of the Senses originated with Teatro de los Sentidos, an inteational company of artist-researchers based in Barcelona, Europe, with over 30 years of experience under the direction of Enrique Vargas. Their research began in Colombia in the 1980s, where they developed a unique methodology that brings together sensory languages, the poetics of play and theatrical creation, aiming to create experiences that blur the boundaries between audiences and performers.

The company presented its productions at inteational festivals and developed an extensive training programme, including postgraduate and master's programmes in the Poetics of Play in collaboration with the University of Girona (Spain). The team of artist-researchers also specialised in creating spaces and installations.

Research into sensory language led the company to collaborate across different creative and professional fields, supporting creative processes that incorporate elements of this language. These sensory approaches have also been applied in areas such as architecture, therapy, education and dance, exploring the transformative potential of sensory language at both personal and collective levels.

Gabriel Heández, a founding member of Teatro de los Sentidos since 1989, has established himself inteationally as a pioneer in sensory poetics and interactive installations, developing his own methodology.

Together with Ima Torres, he has now founded Sensory Studio in Barcelona, a platform that promotes innovative approaches through sensory research and creation.
