Ballet en tres actos, basado en el capítulo XIX del segundo libro de "El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha" de Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra.

El Ballet de Moscú presenta una de las obras emblemáticas de la historia de la danza teatral: Don Quijote. Dirigido por Timur Fayziev, coreógrafo formado en el Marynsky donde fue primer bailarín, el Ballet de Moscú fue creado en 1989, y está compuesto por algunos de los más destacados bailarines y coreógrafos de los ballets rusos, como el Bolshoi o el Stanislavsky. La compañía nos presenta en esta ocasión Don Quijote, ballet en tres actos basado en el capítulo XIX del segundo libro de "El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha" de Miguel de Cervantes. La música la compuso Ludwig Minkus. El estreno mundial del ballet se efectuó el 26 de diciembre de 1869 en el Teatro Bolshoi de Moscú a solicitud de los Teatros Imperiales de Rusia. El propio Petipa revisaría en múltiples ocasiones esta obra y apartir de las diferentes versiones realizadas por el coreógrafo marsellés, el ruso Alexander Gorsky reconstruyó la obra en 1900 obteniendo un gran éxito. El argumento se centra principalmente en los amores Kitri y el barbero Basilio extraído del segundo volumen de la novela de Cervantes, y en las aventuras de los míticos personajes de Don Quijote y Sancho Panza en torno a la joven pareja.
