TRIBUTE A PATH METHENY

Santiago Lara presenta su tributo a Path Metheny. Flamenco y jazz siempre fueron músicas predestinadas a entenderse. Si Miles Davis grabó soleares y saetas, Paco de Lucía formó trío con Al Di Meola y John McLaughlin. No han cesado las colaboraciones, ni los gestos de admiración mutua. Cuando Vicente Amigo incluyó el ‘Querido Metheny’ en su álbum ‘Vivencias imaginadas’ estaba poniendo de manifiesto algo que Lara viene a corroborar: “Sin saberlo, Pat Metheny ha influido de una manera transcendental en la nueva generación de guitarristas flamencos”. Por eso, ha querido rendirle homenaje con una obra completa, ‘Flamenco tribute to Pat Metheny’, que presenta en Pasionari@s CajaCanarias 2019
De la discografía del jazzista norteamericano ha escogido ocho temas que ha considerado aptos para llevar a su terreno flamenco. Y eso implica, como premisa, dotarlos de una base de compás flamenco: bulerías, soleá por bulerías, tanguillos, tangos… El guitarrista presenta el proyecto en formato cuarteto, con el piano de Miguel López, la batería de Guillermo McGill y el bajo de Ignacio Cintado, músicos todos con un pie en cada mundo.
