El gran cantautor de las cosas simples
Alberto Cortez es conocido por muchos como "El gran cantautor de las cosas simples". Algunas de sus obras más conocidas son: En un rincón del alma, Cuando un amigo se va, Callejero, Mi árbol y yo, A partir de mañana, Te llegará una rosa, Castillos en el aire, El abuelo, canción esta última que obtuvo un éxito fenomenal y que fue interpretada también por la cantante venezolana Mirla Castellanos. Muchas de sus canciones se basan en hechos y personajes reales o simplemente en sentimientos y adversidades a lo largo de su vida.
Fue gran amigo del cantautor Facundo Cabral, con quien se presentaba en ciertas ocasiones cantando obras como No soy de aquí ni soy de allá y Cuando un amigo se va. En sus conciertos trataban de entrelazar un poco de humor al show. Con veinte años se fue en barco a Génova, y de allí en tren a Amberes, donde grabó su primer disco.
Acompañado únicamente por el pianista Fernando Badía, y con un espectáculo intimista, Alberto Cortez (Rancul, Argentina, 1940) inicia en la capital vizcaína su gira El regreso.
