Erleben Sie eine Oper wie nie zuvor in dieser erstaunlichen Aufführung von Verdis Meisterwerken in Roms bemerkenswerten Caracalla-Thermen.
Rigoletto ist ein dreiaktiges Stück von Giuseppe Verdi, das 1851 geschrieben wurde und auf Victor Gugos Stück Le Roi S'amuse (fr.: Der König hat Spaß) basiert. Das Stück wurde von der Zensur wegen seines unmoralischen Charakters und der Sabotage der Autorität des königlichen Hofes verboten, daher wurde in Verdis Oper die Figur des Königs durch einen Herzog ersetzt. Rigoletto gilt als das erste Opernmeisterwerk des Komponisten, das nach seiner Uraufführung im Theater La Fenice in Venedig sofort ein Kassenschlager war.

Baths of Caracalla
The Baths of Caracalla are one of the best remaining examples of the ancient public baths of Rome. The city´s second largest Roman thermae, or public baths, Caracalla is the only site in which it has been possible to restore the original decorative scheme. Built during the reigns of the Emperors Septimius Severus and Caracalla (212 AD to 216 AD), under imperial patronage, the baths were immensely popular. Contemporary descriptions create a picture of oriental paving in coloured marble, enormous marble columns, glass paste mosaics, painted stucco, marbled walls and hundreds of colossal statues. Nonetheless, the baths fell into disuse in the 6th Century, and were allowed to decay. Extensive excavations in the 19th and 20th Centuries returned the Baths to their current state. Since 2001, this spectacular venue hosts concerts and performances of operas on a movable stage outwith the main structure, so as not to put stress on the ancient ruins.

Giuseppe Verdi was an Italian opera composer. From a young age, he developed a musical education with the help of a patron and soon dominated the Italian opera. In fact by his 30s, he became one of the most influential opera composer all over the classical scene. His most famous operas are Il Trovatore, Rigoletto and La Traviata. Furthermore, he was able to establish himself as a landowner with the income from his successful operas and focus on his private life. However, he soon returned to the scene with his new popular work Aida (1871), and three masterpieces: Otello, Requiem and Falstaff.
