Grand Opera House York
The Relaxed Performance, which takes place on Wednesday 30th December, has elements of the pantomime adapted to reduce anxiety or stress. It’s especially popular with audience members who prefer a less formal atmosphere, such as those on the autism spectrum, those with a leaing disability, and very young children who have never visited a theatre. We welcome anyone to book who would benefit from a more relaxed atmosphere!
During this performance, adjustments will be made including a cast introduction, lighting remaining at a low level in the auditorium, flashing and strobe lighting removed, sound levels lowered, and loud bangs removed. The atmosphere in the auditorium will be relaxed and audience members can feel free to move around and make noise. There will also be a chill-out room available, if anyone needs to leave the auditorium at any time.
Musical theatre & TV star Tom Lister (Emmerdale, 42nd Street, Calamity Jane, Legally Blonde) stars as Captain Hook. And, after delighting audiences as Buttons in last year’s Cinderella, fan favourite Jimmy Bryant is back as Smee! Further star casting to be announced.
Get ready for stunning choreography, show-stopping songs, mind-blowing special effects, and jaw-dropping stunts that will bring Neverland to life like you’ve never seen before.
This is the pantomime event of the year - and you won’t want to miss it. Book your tickets now and join the adventure!

Grand Opera House York
Not originally intended to be a theatre, the buildings that comprise the Grand Opera House York officially opened in 1902 with Little Red Riding Hood starring Florrie Ford. Since then it has been owned by FJ Butterworth, the Shepherd of Shambles and the India Pru Co. Ltd who spent £4,000,000 restoring the theatre to its former glory in 1987.
