Night after night, she weaves a tapestry of tales filled with enchantment, humour, adventure, longing, and loss. Her stories introduce us to merchants and thieves, lovers and dreamers, spirits, and sages. As these vibrant characters cross deserts, oceans, and the landscapes of their own hearts, Shahryar slowly recovers his humanity and leas what it is to be a just ruler.
Mary Zimmerman’s The Arabian Nights is far more than a collection of fables. It is a celebration of the rich storytelling traditions of the Middle East and a reminder of the enduring power of culture to connect people across time and place. In an era when the histories and cultural treasures of the region have too often been misunderstood and threatened by political powers, these stories feel more vital than ever. They preserve wisdom, they embody humanity, and more importantly they highlight that imagination belongs not only to one culture, but to all of us.
The Arabian Nights is a moving story about redemption. Through the magic of stories—and ultimately through genuine human connection—Shahryar leas that real love is the greatest healer of all. Join us as we bring this breathtaking, timeless jouey to life.
