Scarborough SEA LIFE & Marine Sanctuary invites you this year to explore the magical re-creation of the most amazing natural wonder in the world, the awe-inspiring Great Barrier Reef. Discover an array of tropical sharks, beautiful rays and colourful coral beneath the ocean surface. Turtle Sanctuary: Visit our brand new refuge for endangered freshwater turtles, the latest in a Europe-wide network of breeding facilities for these strange and exotic animals? many of which have been pushed to the brink of extinction. Our seal hospital is busy all year round caring for sick and injured seal pups until, whenever possible, they are well enough to be returned to the wild. Other highlights include an incredible otter sanctuary, penguin sanctuary and a whole host of other incredible marine creatures. Informative talks and feeding presentations throughout the day make this a memorable day out for the whole family. Restaurant: Indoor: Relax in our café where a selection of hot and cold food is available. We also offer a kids meal with a free gift. Hot food is served from 11 am until 4pm (3pm in winter) Outdoor: From Easter to the end of October you can relax at the outdoor themed seating area and take in the superb views over the North bay. There is a wide range of hot and cold drinks, ice creams and snacks to choose from. Let the children pan for gold while you enjoy your cappuccino. Each child receives a medal for their efforts. Open for all ages at only £1. Shop: Visit our shop for every kind of fishy souvenir you can imagine Showtime: There are regular talks, presentations and feeding displays with our sanctuary animals throughout the day. Please see the notice board at the entrance or ask a member of staff for details. Rock pool talks available all day. Here you can get up close and personal with its inhabitants such as common shore and velvet crabs. Meet a member of the displays team at the touchpools. Prepare to be grabbed eight times at once, at our new feature, Octopus Hideout. You?ll be able to get closer than ever before to some of the world?s most intelligent sea creatures, marvel at the incredible colour changing Cuttlefish and meet the Nautilus whose features haven?t changed for over 200 million years! Come and meet Barbara, our resident Giant Pacific Octopus, which is one the smartest sea creatures in the animal kingdom. You?ll be amazed at the sheer size and beauty of Babs, as she settles in to her new home.
