Sir Chris Hoy is one of Britain’s greatest Olympians. A six-time Olympic gold medallist and 11-time world champion, his career was built on mastering the split-second moments that define victory. In 2023 he faced a different kind of challenge; leaing to live with a Stage 4 Cancer diagnosis.

An Evening with Sir Chris Hoy

In this conversation, Chris will speak candidly about the years since his diagnosis, the grief, the recalibration, and the unexpected clarity that can follow. He'll describe founding Tour de 4, the charity cycling event that brought together over 5,000 riders last year and raised more than £3 million for cancer charities. He'll talk about the role of his family— including his wife Sarra, who received her own serious diagnosis at the same time—and the way crisis can strip life back to what genuinely matters.

At the heart of the evening is a simple but hard-won idea: that it is the small things, the ordinary moments most of us let pass unnoticed, that tu out to carry the most weight.

Chris will also discuss his book All That Matters, part memoir, part guide to living with greater attention.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear Chris’ story in his own words, and to ask your own questions in an evening of insight, courage, and inspiration.

Paperback copies of All That Matters RRP £10.

Originally The New Theatre, it opened on Boxing Day, 1912. It went through several iterations, being renamed once before becoming the Opera House in 1920. It's also been used for different functions; as a cinema in WW2, then a bingo hall before reopening as a theatre again in 1984. Since, it has hosted magnificent shows like Baum and Phantom of the Opera.
